Q. What is Mastering?
A. Mastering is the final creative process before release, it is also the final point of reference for quality control. Your mastering engineer should be able to tell you if your tracks or album need more work in the mix or if it is ready for Mastering, They will either refer the track back to the mix engineer or do any treatments necessary before sending your track or album off to be reproduced and distributed, either by Cd creation or by Digital distribution.
Mastering is also where all your meta data, ISRC codes, track names, artist and writing credits and other information is embedded into your work.
Q. Why choose you and not Landr?
A. Next to audio, I really enjoy working with people, it's the human interaction that makes my job special, When I am comissioned to work on your project you get direct access to me, a trained, qualified and experienced engineer who wants to bring out the best in your material, whatever the genre. You get personal engagement and years of music production experience all housed within a calibrated studio and my prices are very competitive.
Granted, online digital mastering will treat your music and process it well, but (see above) it can't give you advice or any suggestions to improve your work, I've been involved in music production for 20 years in some form or another and have years of experience which I'm happy to share if it's requested.
Q. What is your turnaround time?
A. Turnaround time can vary depending on what else is in the pipeline, single tracks are "usually" pretty quick to process, (a matter of hours) however compiling and album can take considerably longer, I do offer a rapid turnaround service for a cost, however that is usually discussed at the beginning of the process.
